We are almost to 100!

Happy 100th Day of School! In celebration of our 100th day of school next Friday please have your kindergartener bring in 100 items in the attached ziploc bag. They will be counting the items with a friend! Thank you for your help! Also, we will soon be starting an ice cream incentive for counting by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100. You can earn 1 scoop of ice cream if you can count by 1’s to 100, a 2nd scoop of ice cream if you can count by 5’s to 100 and a 3rd scoop of ice cream if you can count by 10’s to 100. Keep counting!

Will the groundhog see his shadow?

We are anxiously waiting for Sunday, February 2nd to see if the groundhog will see his shadow. We know that if he does he will go back into hibernation for 6 more weeks of winter. If the groundhog doesn't see his shadow that means spring will be here soon! In celebration of Groundhog's Day the kindergarten classes will have a visit from a hedgehog from Critter Camp on Friday. We are excited to meet Prickles the hedgehog! Today was also our first day back to school after a few cold weather days! This has certainly been a cold winter! Today we also took the reading part of our MAP assessment. Tomorrow we will be taking the math part of the MAP assessment. I am proud of all of your kindergarteners for working so hard on the assessment this morning and for being so kind to each other! Keep up the great work!

January News... January 16

Way to go, Kindergarten! I am so proud of all of our kindergarteners for the sentences they are writing in their journals! They are looking great! With our writing we are practicing: - starting with a capital letter - putting two spaces after each word - using lowercase letters - putting ending punctuation (. ! ?) Keep writing to our wonderful kindergarten writers! Happy New Year! We have been making people with party hats and writing New Year’s Resolutions to hang in the hallway! I loved reading the New Year’s Resolutions that your kindergarteners brought to school! Thank you also for having your child bring back their weekly homework paper too! Thank you to all of our families who help us in so many ways! Thank you to Amelia’s mom for helping us build our igloo. She already has the ground floor done! Thank you to Teagan’s mom for helping us make granola on Wednesday with oatmeal. January is National Oatmeal Month! Thank you to all of our families and to the people they know for saving gallon milk jugs. Please keep saving them! We need about 60 more. We are learning to write uppercase letters and we are reviewing writing lowercase letters. The letters this week are: Aa,Bb,Cc,Dd,Ee,Ff. We are also learning to tap and blend 3 letter words such as: man hug kit bat sip top jug map van In math we are learning about addition to 5. We have been using manipulatives to make two groups of items and then we add them together. We have also been writing in our January math journals. These will come home at the end of the month.
