Welcome to school!

Dear Kindergarten Friends,

Welcome to kindergarten!  I am so glad you will be here soon and I can't wait to meet you!  What did you do this summer?  I will see you and your parents soon at our open house on Tuesday at 5:30.  I'll see you then!

Easter bunny subtraction

Today we had fun coloring and cutting carrots to practice our subtraction on an Easter bunny mat. How many carrots are left for the Easter bunny in these problems? 2-0= 4-2= 5-4= 1-1= 0-0=

Today is Tropical Island Day...

We are having fun at our Tropical Island Day today! This morning we read 'The Rainbow Fish'. This is a story about a fish who shares his shimmery scales with his friends in the sea. We then made rainbow fish using many colored scales and a googly eye. The kindergarteners are also painting a fish bowl and will start gluing decorations in them this afternoon. If there is time we are planning on gluing together a chain lei to wear for our special day. I am proud of our kindergarteners for using kind words with each other and for helping each other. Next Monday, Thursday and Friday I will be at kindergarten roundup. Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to each of our kindergarteners and our families! It has been an exciting day so far! This morning we started the day by making our Valentine's bags to hold our Valentine's cards in. The kindergarteners did a great job coloring, cutting and gluing heart butterflies to add to their bags. Then Mr. Faller came to read a Valentine story to us! We always love listening to his stories and expressions! He also told us about the Great Lakes and how Lake Superior has frozen this year for the second time since the 1970's. Later this morning we made Valentine's to 'mail' to you. Now we are getting ready for the party by passing out Valentine's. Remember there is no school on Monday due to President's Day. On Tuesday when we return we will be doing some fun projects to learn about the presidents, the penny and the quarter. Have a wonderful weekend and a special thank you to our room parents for helping us with our party! The kindergarteners are so excited for you to come!

February is here!

At school we have been celebrating the 100th day of school by counting out items from bags that the kindergarteners brought to school, making hats and putting 100 sprinkles on a frosted cookie! During this past week the Olympics have also started! Today we are going to listen to the theme song from the Olympics and color the olympic rings. On Friday we will celebrate Valentine's day with a party in the afternoon at 2:00. Thank you to each of our room parents for helping with our parties this year! Thank you especially to Mr. and Mrs. VandeVoorde and Mrs. Kasper for working so hard on the igloo! It is now finished and it looks wonderful! Next week there is no school on Monday due to President's Day. Please have your child remember to bring their sight word baggies back to school on Friday to go through with their reading buddies. Thank you for your help! Stay warm!
